After spending my morning and afternoon with our 4-H club, I have to say I am thankful for 4-H! This non-profit organization was one of my founding activities that made me into who I am today. The 4-H name represents four personal development areas of focus for the organization which includes head, heart, hands, and health.
I began my involvement before I was eligible helping my siblings at the fair with our dairy cattle, assisting when our local club picked up trash in our area, and participating in a variety of activities. I could not wait until I was 8! At age 8, I was eligible to participate and showed a dairy calf for my first year in 4-H. I also participated in sewing, crafts, cooking and a variety of other projects through my years with the organization. I was a member of 4-H for 10 years until I turned 18 and loved all the time I spent in the organization. During my later years in the organization as a member, I participated as a teen leader and helped younger members as well.
Today I am a leader for our county’s Dairy Club and am happy to help share the love of 4-H onto the 28 4-Hers we have in our club. Today I am thanking the 4-H organization, all members, leaders, extension agents and past alumni!
