For day 5, I am going to thank my partner in life and on this farm, my husband, Clayton. He farms full-time on our dairy farm, is a wonderful father and husband, and he goes nowhere without his sidekick the dog, Emory.
Each day he cares for our cows, grows our crops, and fixes… well really anything and everything… cows, milking equipment, tractors, machinery, water lines, electric issues, employee issues, and anything that goes awry in our house. On days like today, he even picks our daughter up from the babysitters with a 28 foot trailer attached to his truck and take Nora along for the afternoon while running to pick up seed. (I am still wondering what the babysitter thought when she saw that arrive outside her house!) Not to mention he did morning calf feeding by himself and herd health day with our veterinarian and employees so I could go to a Farm Girls Rocks event. Thank you.
Clayton was just a mere 23 when his father passed away and he was left with running the dairy farm along with his grandparents. He has made huge improvements to the farm in just five years and we are proud with what we have and what we have created for ourselves. I am truly proud of him. Most people would have walked away from such responsibility.
Thank you Clayton for being my partner in this blessed farm life we live. I am thankful for your ability to make me laugh when I really just want to cry and for staying with me even though our house is a disaster! I think he just stays because I can cook! 😉
During the month of November I will be blogging with a new thanks each day! Follow along by seeing all the posts under the menu option “Farm Love” and then “30 Days of Thanks.”
