It’s funny how two families from different parts of the state can have a similar recipe like this and have it being one of their favorites. Growing up we always made English Muffin pizzas for a quick meal and Clayton’s family had a similar recipe but on hamburger buns! I have since merged the recipes to make this one that I make from time to time.
I have told you before of my love for pizza and it’s real. These cheesy pizza burgers are great for little hands too!

Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef (or you could use a mild sausage)
- 1 small onion, chopped
- ½ cup pepperoni, cut into quarters
- 1 small can mushrooms, if desired
- 14 oz. can of pizza sauce
- ½ tsp. garlic salt
- ½ tsp. oregano or Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 8 slices mozzarella cheese
- 24 slices of pepperoni for on top
- 4 English Muffins or hamburger buns, split in half
- Other pizza toppings of your liking, olives, peppers, etc., optional
directions
- Place ground beef in a large skillet and cook over medium high heat until evenly brown. Drain excess fat.
- Add in the onion and saute for 2 to 3 minutes until onion becomes transparent.
- Stir in pepperoni, mushrooms, pizza sauce, garlic salt, oregano, salt and pepper and heat through.
- Open the English Muffins or hamburger buns into two halves and lay on a baking sheet. Spoon pizza burger mixture on top of each half and lay a piece of mozzarella cheese on top along with some 3 slices of pepperoni.
- Turn on broiler and place under your broiler until cheese is melted. I broil mine for 3 to 5 minutes depending on the heat setting.
