This recipe is something we love to top our burgers with or use as a side to burgers too! I know onions aren’t something that everyone loves but these are delicious and very mild.

Onion Straws

Ingredients
- 1 large onion, sliced very thin
- 2 cups buttermilk
- 2 cups flour
- 1 Tablespoon seasoned salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- ¼ teaspoon (to ½ teaspoon) cayenne pepper
- Canola oil
Instructions
- Place sliced onions in a baking dish or pie pan and cover with buttermilk and soak for 30 minutes.
- Heat canola oil to 375 degrees. You will need your pan to have about 2 inches deep.
- Mix up the dry ingredients and set aside.
- Remove the onions from the buttermilk and toss in the flour mixture. Shake off the excess mixture and place in the hot oil.
- Fry for a 3-5 minutes and remove as soon as golden brown.
- Repeat until onions are gone.
