Frustrated.

Often I feel frustrated. I feel frustrated because as a farmer I want to care for my animals the best we can and as a mother I want my kids to be healthy and happy. I am frustrated because sometimes these things aren’t easy and sometimes we have to intervene with medicine. It happens with both my cows and kids.

Consumers ask farmers like me to care for our animals without the use of antibiotics and well that just isn’t feasible when we have a sick cow that needs attention and medicine. ⠀⠀

Over the past few months I have cared for our two sick children off and on. I have taken them to the doctors numerous times and we have used antibiotics to treat double ear infections in two kids twice over the past two months.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

It’s no different whether it is my cows or kids. I will care for them in the way they need cared for and we will call our veterinarian and use antibiotics only when it is necessary, just like for my kids.

I am sharing my frustrations with you because I need to share with you that we give our animals the best care possible and we produce milk and meat that we are proud of and that is healthy and safe! 

Whether it comes to my children or our cows I am more than happy to utilize modern medicine through preventative care, vaccinations, antibiotics and all the love and care I can give them! We only use the medicines as they are prescribed and via their instructions. We strive hard everyday to not only keep our animals healthy and productive but our kids healthy and happy too! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
