Well it’s been a long month and a half since we moved in. Actually it’s been a LONG almost eight months of building our home OR two and a half year of the true building process beginning OR six and half years of planning for the build depending how you look at it. We have been dreaming, planning and longing for our own home for those nearly 7 years. It is in that time that we were fortunate to begin our home and now I type this sitting in our home.
It’s been a long few weeks as we moved into our new home and are busy settling in. It’s been a bit chaotic, it’s been full of overflowing boxes, and searching for days for the one item you need. But the calm moments like this are the reason I put so much time and thought into our build. I wanted this room to be a space for the kids to play, learn and to enjoy. It was only day 6 and we achieved this!
This home build hasn’t been easy. Life isn’t easy but it is wonderful. It has been challenging and took a lot of patience, sweat and tears. I cried a lot during this process making sure everything was just right but also worrying if this was the right decision for us.
Yes, I know I was worrying about it too late, but during a difficult economic period, it was hard justifying a home. I also smiled and felt such joy as I watched our children enjoy the process of moving dirt, watching sticks evolve into a home, and now the home that is completed I enjoy watching them run through the field to our home. For us this was the right decision and this is just what we needed to love, live and to raise these wonderful kids. Even if the majority of their time is spent on my counters and not on the floor. They are kids, enjoying the new and fun experience and they certainly feel at home here. We all do, because we are finally home.
