Ingredients
  • 1 large onion, sliced very thin
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 Tablespoon seasoned salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon (to ½ teaspoon) cayenne pepper
  • Canola oil
Instructions
  1. Place sliced onions in a baking dish or pie pan and cover with buttermilk and soak for 30 minutes.
  2. Heat canola oil to 375 degrees. You will need your pan to have about 2 inches deep.
  3. Mix up the dry ingredients and set aside.
  4. Remove the onions from the buttermilk and toss in the flour mixture. Shake off the excess mixture and place in the hot oil.
  5. Fry for a 3-5 minutes and remove as soon as golden brown.
  6. Repeat until onions are gone.
