Hello and welcome to Eat Farm Love. My name is Renée and I am a dairy farmer, farm wife, mother, home cook, food lover, graphic designer and dairy professional. I decided to blog to share recipes and our farm life with you!
I spent my childhood growing up on a dairy farm in north central Pennsylvania with my parents and two siblings.
I have a large extended family and when I say large, I mean large. I have 62 first cousins, Have you ever watched My Big Fat Greek Wedding? I love when she is describing her family and feel sometimes it describes mine best if you replace Greek with farmers. Here is the quote with the number of cousins changed and farmers in place of Greek and it is me to a T! “So, you have two cousins, I have 62 first cousins. Just 62 first cousins alone! And my whole family is loud. And everybody is in each other’s lives and business. All the time! Like, you never just have a minute alone, just to think, ‘Cause we’re always together, just eating, eating, eating! The only other people we know are FARMERS, ’cause FARMERS marry FARMERS to breed more FARMERS, to be loud breeding FARMING eaters.” Sorry if that offends any of my family, because I don’t mean that, I love them all and LOVE that I have a large family.
After graduating from Penn State with an agriculture degree I moved to Ohio to work as an assistant editor at a cow breed magazine and communications specialist for a cattle genetic company. After being in Ohio for a few years, an old friend of mine, Clayton, came back into the picture after a dear friend reintroduced us. There was tragedy occurring and somehow love escaped from it before I knew it we were engaged and a wedding was planned. I moved to Clayton’s dairy farm in western Pennsylvania where we live now!
My husband, Clayton, and I own and operate a 200-cow Jersey dairy farm about a hour north of Pittsburgh. Day to day Clayton and I care for the cows and farm over 500 acres of crops along with Clayton’s grandparents and a handful of employees. Besides working at the farm I spend my days cooking and working on freelance graphic design work. We have a five year old daughter, Nora, and a three year old son, Landon, that loves the farm life as much as their parents, and a dog, Emory that keep us on our toes.
Follow along with me on my journey as a dairy farmer, farm wife, mother, home cook, food lover, graphic designer, and now a blogger! I guarantee there will be tons of photos of cows, funny stories and photos of our child, I’ll share recipes of good eats that we enjoy, and hopefully you will learn about me and the family I LOVE, our FARM and agricultural along the way. Welcome to our farm life.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns! I would love to hear from you.
