As we’ve had a busy week and the week is not even half way through I would like to thank technology for making our lives a little bit easier. Most days the technology does help us!
With the help of technology we are able to milk our cows in a parlor and milk 20 cows at a time! We aren’t hand milking these ladies anymore! We are also able to easily record and keep up to date with our cow records. We use a computer system called PC Dart which records all health concerns or treatments, reproductive breedings and herd health checks, daily milk production weights and even family tree information on each and every cow we own. Recently we updated and now are able to use a tablet as well as the computer with PC Dart which has made it even easier when in the barn and needing some information on a particular cow.
We also use technology when it comes to feeding our cows via our nutritionist and through our feed mixer. The mixer weighs each product we add in ensuring that we are feeding an adequate mix that matches our feed ration provided by the nutritionist.
Another technology that helps to save me time and that I use nearly everyday is our accounting software to pay bills, pay our employees and to just enter accounting entries that need entered into our program. Another one that I know may sound silly is my slow cooker. I put many meals in my slow cooker so I don’t have to worry about coming into the house to prepare lunch each day!
And last of all technology has enabled me to write this blog!
Thanks for all the technology that helps make each day a little easier and today I needed that!
During the month of November I will be blogging with a new thanks each day! Follow along by seeing all the posts under the menu option “Farm Love” and then “30 Days of Thanks.”
